I don’t want AI. I want a quicker loading app.
told a customer calling from a Google LSA lead that my business was closed
they have started sending customized messages to customers, that we did NOT okay to be sent
Complaints about AI are still a small share of field service app reviews, but they have grown every year since 2024. Very few are about AI writing things. They are about AI doing things: answering the phone, messaging clients, or standing where a support person used to be.
The same owners use AI when it saves them typing.
Sent a few chatgpt prompted collection letters and that got the ball rolling
Where AI helps
- Turning a few words into a draft. "Water heater swap for the Garcias, 50 gallon, $1,450" becomes an estimate with line items.
- Pulling your own prices, so the draft matches what you charge.
- Finding things: which client, which job, what you charged last time.
- Writing the awkward message, like a polite payment reminder that you then send yourself.
- Working hands-free: talking instead of typing, in the truck, between jobs.
Where it costs you
- Answering your phone. An AI receptionist that gets a call wrong loses the lead, and you may never hear about it.
- Messaging clients on its own: texts and emails you did not approve, at hours you would not choose.
- Standing in for support. When a payout stops, a chatbot is not an answer.
- Slowing the app down. An AI screen between you and the invoice is friction, not help.
it will send SMS messages to customers even at 3am
Service Titan prior to AI, A+. With AI, the app is basically unusable.
Five rules for AI in a trade business
- It drafts; you send. Nothing reaches a client until you have looked at it and tapped send.
- Nothing goes out on a schedule you did not set up yourself.
- The manual way stays as fast as it was. AI is a shortcut, not a gate.
- It works from your numbers: your price book, your clients, your past jobs. No invented prices.
- A person answers support. AI can find a setting for you; it cannot fix a held payout.
How Bill works in Falcon Bill
Bill is the assistant inside Falcon Bill. You type, or on Boss and Crew you tap the mic and talk, and Bill drafts the estimate, invoice, client, or job, with prices from your price book.
Before anything is sent, Bill shows you the draft and waits for your tap. He cannot choose who an email goes to, and he has no way to reach your clients: no texts, no calls, no scheduled messages. Only the owner's seat has Bill.
Falcon Bill itself sends nothing to clients on a schedule: no automatic reminders, no marketing. When something breaks, a person answers at support@falconbill.com.
Solo includes 10 Bill messages a day, by text. Boss and Crew allow up to 200 a day and add voice.
Coming soon: WhatsApp and photos
Two things are on the way. You will be able to message Bill from WhatsApp, and send him a photo to draft from. The rule stays the same: Bill drafts, you tap send.
