Price complaints are some of the most common in reviews of field service and invoicing apps. Very few are about the starting price. They are about the gap between the starting price and the bill.
I’m a 1-man lawn care biz, and there is no way I’m going to cut 3 lawns per Mo to pay these people $150-200 per month for some scheduling/invoice app.
It is shame that in order to add a picture to your quote you need to upgrade to growth plan.
They recently reduced the number of invoices per month to THREE. That’s PAID.
Six things that turn a starting price into a bill
- The tier with the feature you need. Entry plans leave out things many crews use every day. On Jobber, photos on quotes and two-way texting start on the Grow plan, and QuickBooks sync on Connect. On Housecall Pro, QuickBooks sync starts on Essentials.
- People. Adding a person often raises the bill. Jobber charges $29 a month for each extra user. Housecall Pro's Max plan includes eight users and charges $35 a month for each one after that.
- Add-ons. AI receptionists, marketing suites, and sales pipelines are often sold on top of the plan.
- Intro prices. Many plans start low and step up. Jobber's current offer on Core is $35 a month for three months, then $49. Falcon Bill does it too: Solo is $19 a month for three months, then $29. Put the step-up in your math.
- Card fees. Card payments usually cost around 2.9% plus 30 cents each. Jobber lists 2.9% + 30¢ and a 1% fee for instant payouts; Housecall Pro lists card rates from 2.59%.
- Caps. Some simple invoice apps limit how many invoices you can send each month on lower plans.
Price it for 12 months
Here is the same math for three common setups, at list prices, month to month. The first 12 months include the step-up after an intro price where there is one.
| Setup | Plan | Monthly price | First 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo, invoices and estimates | Jobber Core | $49 | $588 |
| Solo, invoices and estimates | Falcon Bill Solo | $19 for 3 months, then $29 | $318 |
| Solo, photos on quotes | Jobber Grow, 1 user | $199 | $2,388 |
| Solo, photos on quotes | Falcon Bill Solo | $19 for 3 months, then $29 | $318 |
| Crew of 5, photos on quotes | Jobber Grow, 5 users | $299 | $3,588 |
| Crew of 5, photos on quotes | Falcon Bill Crew | $79 for 3 months, then $99 | $1,128 |
| Crew of 5, QuickBooks sync | Housecall Pro Essentials, 5 users | $189 | $2,268 |
| Crew of 5, QuickBooks sync | Falcon Bill | Not offered | Not offered |
List prices from each vendor's pricing page on September 25, 2026, billed month to month, before limited-time promotions and card fees. Annual billing costs less on all three.
Two things stand out. For a solo who only sends invoices and estimates, the gap is smallest: $588 against $318 in the first year month to month, and $348 against $264 billed yearly. It widens fast when one feature you want sits in a higher tier, or when you add people.
What the bigger bill buys
A higher tier is not a rip-off. Jobber's Connect and Grow plans include automated reminders, two-way texting, and QuickBooks sync. Housecall Pro's higher plans add dispatch and marketing tools. If you use those every week, they can be worth the money.
The problem is paying for them and never opening them. Before you pay, ask:
- Which features do I use every week, not just once?
- What is the cheapest tier that has all of them?
- What does one more person cost?
- What is the price after the intro ends?
- Can I pay month to month and cancel in the app?
- Can I export my data on every plan, and after I cancel?
How Falcon Bill prices
Three plans, one price each. Solo is $29 a month for one person. Boss is $69 a month for one person who wants voice input and more AI (up to 200 messages a day, against 10 on Solo). Crew is $99 a month for the owner plus up to four workers. On monthly billing the first three months are $19, $49, and $79. Yearly billing is $264, $624, and $948.
No per-invoice fees, no seat fees up to five people, no add-ons. Photos on estimates and invoices come with every plan. Falcon Bill takes no cut of card payments.
What you give up: no two-way texting inside the app, no automatic reminders to clients, no QuickBooks sync, and no crews over five people. If you need those, a bigger tool may be worth its price.
